My first real job was a summer job working in parks with children. I led children in arts and crafts projects every weekday. At 22 I started working in an after school program. I remember reading to the kids a lot and one favorite was The Little Prince. I began teaching in preschools and that was my work for about 10 years. I later moved into tech support, teaching myself from books, online classes and with on the job experience. I worked as a tech for my county offices for nearly 20 years. In the last 5 years of tech support I began to write childrens' stories. The first was part of a Christmas present for my daughter that had a mermaid theme. I reworked the Princess and the Pea story, to give it a mermaid theme, and that rhyming story became Mer: The Mermaid and the Pearl. My first original story was Happy Flower which I wrote because my mom loves sunflowers and I saw a tag on some new socks that had a half of a sunflower... "That's a happy flower" I thought. I wrote the whole story on the back of an envelope in about 5 minutes! After Happy Flower (and Happy Flowers for kids being raised by aunts or grandmothers, or other caregivers), stories just came to me... soon I had a list of story ideas that was over 100! I currently have over 20 books published on Amazon through KDP; Half a dozen more are in the works including, Dish Monster, CeeCee's Closet, Sailor Talk, Dragon Stew, The Cat Sees Paris, Ugly Robot more! I can be found on Facebook as PublishOwl and would love to hear from readers. If you have a story idea send it on Facebook! Thanks for reading. Robin
