Duke Jarboe, born Thomas Uriah Jarboe, is from both Leonard, MO and San Diego, CA. He spent the school year in Leonard, a town with a population of 66, living on a farm. Summers at the beach in sunny San Diego lured him away from the small town farm life. Duke graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Literature and Writing and quickly went to work finishing his first novel, The Dark Roast.
Instead of working on a sequel, Duke went on to work at a startup in La Jolla, CA. Everyday California gave Duke the experiences of a lifetime. Kayaking with blue whales, grey whales and dolphins produced transformative moments that opened up the world in ways he could have never imagined.
Years after publishing The Dark Roast, Duke decided to publish his next book. 101 Poo Poems by Dr. Deuce could not be more different from The Dark Roast. The illustrated poetic parody follows Duke's journey through 101 different poops, in a hilarious compilation that makes for the best bathroom book one can buy.
Again, instead of continuing to explore a potential series, Duke is moving on to finish another novel in another entirely different genre.
