Pete Rumball

Pete Rumball, born 20th August 1933 and christened Robert Peter Rumball, but universally called Pete, was educated in the Alice Springs Higher Primary school in the Northern Territory, Australia. Also in Queens College, North Adelaide, South Australia.

He had a lifetime of managing businesses for himself, and others, in the fields of irrigation, motorcycle dealership, hardware & builders supply, and decorative glass studio, before retiring to prospect for gold in all Australian States.

It was while operating a Honda Motorcycle dealership that he suffered a burns accident to 60% of his body, with about half of that 'full thickness' or 3rd degree.

Married in 1956 to Aileen Joy McLeod of Utopia Station, Alice Springs. Aileen passed away in 2015, not quite getting to their Diamond Wedding Anniversary; Pete moved to Dalby in the Western Downs of Queensland with his constant and prospecting companion, Rusty Nails, who was in his 15th. year, and carrying a previously diagnosed malignant tumor.

Pete and Rusty enjoyed 18 months together, before Pete had to farewell his much loved little mate, when Rusty's discomfort became too much. After a few years away from writing, Pete's first published book was "How to Say Farewell", the story of his watch on Rusty's deteriorating condition, and his ultimate decision, "And When to Say It"
