Originally from Nigeria, Joseph Thompson is the Cultural Architect/Chief Storyteller and the principal visionary for Primal Purpose Inc. In his spiritual evolution journey, Joseph has long wrestled with the notion that, it’s often so much easier to pray and preach than it is to love people selflessly and unconditionally. At some point he decided to stop wrestling with the idea, and test the theory.
The idea was to build a faith community that was focused on disproving that notion, not just in his head, but in the real world. The result: Primal Purpose Inc. The goal: Love God, Love People… unconditionally!
Through Primal Purpose, Joseph has tried to create a space where people come together in a common, shared goal of serving the community while growing in their vertical (God) and horizontal (people) relationships. Joseph provides life coaching services and resources that help people identify and walk in their purpose. He does this through personal coaching sessions, team building seminars, and corporate consulting.
Joseph really enjoys global travel - it has become something of his “drug” of choice - believing that travel provides the greatest education and insight into people’s hearts and lives, as you smell the smells, hear the sounds, and see the sights that influence their daily choices. His conviction is that; if you want to know what’s important to people, meet them where they are, and understand what makes them think, act, and live the way they do.
A gifted storyteller and communicator of the Christian Scriptures, Joseph served as Associate Pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado for over six years before starting The Well and Primal Purpose. His academic background includes lots of college, but his real qualifications for serving in ministry, and life coaching, are his passionate pursuit of God and his love for people. He travels across the United States and ‘globetrots’ the nations, speaking in local churches, conferences and seminars.
His easy and humorous delivery style makes the demand for his talks continuous. Joseph is the author of a book titled "I’m a Christian, So How Can I Have Demons?" and co-editor with Dr. C. Peter Wagner of "Out of Africa- How the Spiritual Explosion among Nigerians is impacting the World". He is also a contributing author to Regal Books, "It's prayer Time.” However, by his own admission, one of his most important works to date is his recent e-book “Imagine Say...What If God Was Really Counting On You?” written in the wake of the Dana Air plane crash in Lagos, Nigeria on June 3, 2012 - in which his youngest sister was killed.
Joseph has lived in the United States for almost 26 years. He and Sola, his lovely wife of 28 years, have three children: a son, Demi, and two daughters, Bimi and Temi. His claim to fame is that he can almost bench-press as much as his son, even though his son was a ‘stud’ football player.
