Jonathan Sacker

Jonathan Sacker was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease which most effects the respiratory and digestive systems. "Imperfect Perfection" is a journey through the difficult and tumultuous battles that have resulted from this disease.

With a comical and "laugh-at-yourself" style, Jonathan shares his life in an uplifting and positive manner with hope that each reader will find perfection within their own imperfection.

Fighting against the ravaging effects of CF for the past 32 years, Jonathan finally found himself in need of an emergency double lung transplant. As with most lung disease, a lung transplant is necessary but in Jonathan's case, it became an emergency.

On May 20th, 2012, Jonathan's doctor informed his family that without an emergency double lung transplant, he was not expected to live longer than 3 to 5 days. He was placed on an emergency transplant list but the statistics were not in his favor. No one receives a double lung transplant in 3 days.

On May 22nd, a miracle took place and a donor was found for Jonathan. It was a high-risk donation but was quickly accepted due to the emergency situation. Without these lungs, Jonathan was not going to live much longer. There were extreme complications during the surgery and at one point there was a very real possibility that Jonathan would not even be able to make it through the surgery due to the inability of his body to get enough oxygen. The surgery took 7 hours with 2 surgeons working simultaneously so as to not keep Jonathan under anesthesia longer than needed. After the surgery, the surgeon informed the family that a miracle had indeed taken place and that everything was going to be okay.

Now, 6+ months later, Jonathan is breathing wonderfully and able to regain much of the life that he had lost during the past decade due to the effects of Cystic Fibrosis. Jonathan and his wife Sallie are now enjoying a brand new life each day thankful for the miracle set of lungs that they attribute completely to a loving and caring God.
