George A. Platz

George A. Platz was born in a small town in Arizona and grew up on a dirt road in Iowa. He was in the very first group of National Merit Scholars and attended Northwestern, Harvard, and the London School of Economics. He practiced law until his retirement in 2002. His writings include two novels (Acquired Characteristics and Hawk Island), a collection of essays about country living (Adventures of a Weekend Farmer), a play (Loyalists), several papers on the history of Graham County, AZ, and a travel essay (Three Weeks in Provence).
