Elena Blanco Moleon

Elena Blanco Moleón started writing poetry soon after her arrival in Canada at the tender age of nine. "The Bad Wolf, Blue", her first published poem, was featured in her elementary school's newsletter. Since then, her infatuation with the barmy world of creative writing has grown. She pursued it at Canterbury Arts High School in Ottawa via their Literary Arts programme, and then within Concordia University’s Creative Writing department in Montreal. Her favourite genres are poetry and children’s literature, which makes sense if you consider how the two adjectives most often used by Elena's peers to describe her work are “nostalgic” and “whimsical”.

Although she has already had several of her poems printed in different Canadian literary magazines, "The Talented Demetri" marks her first official publication outside of an anthology and within an entirely different genre. It was created as a vernissage project to showcase her talents in both graphic design and children's fiction, to hint at the culmination of her acquired skills at Concordia. It is already on its third edition, and has been translated to Spanish for Kindle readers. It is due to be released in two additional languages (Portuguese and French) sometime in early 2013.

Elena currently resides in the Canadian cultural Mecca of Montreal, Quebec.
