Gary Tedman has published a number of peer reviewed essays, mainly in the journal Rethinking Marxism, including the influential texts 'Ideology, the State, and the Aesthetic Level of Practice' and 'Origins of Kitsch'.
A former lecturer at the University of North London, and then Professor of Art and Design at the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, Italy, he studied Fine Art at the University of Portsmouth under the constructive-systematic artist Jeffrey Steele. This was followed by a research degree at the Royal College of Art.
His book "Aesthetics & Alienation" was published by Zero Books in 2012 and is he currently finalizing a new book on the theory of the media.
Currently residing in France he maintains an art practice and exhibits regularly.
