I started writing while living in a beach house dug into the side of a hill overlooking the high sand dunes of the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. The sounds and smells of ocean living pushed aside the intrusive influences of city life. The crashing waves, the early morning wake-up call of friendly birds and the fresh, sometimes too fresh, air helped to clear the mind for the massive amount of ideas that hover overhead to be harnessed, considered, filed for future use or just plain spat back out.
My first job was in a printing company and that is when I became addicted to ink on paper and paper cuts. After a stretch overseas I started up a graphic design studio and among my design projects were book designs. So print and books have always been, and still are, part of my life.
In the early 70s I wrote an original screenplay for a twenty-minute short feature film THE FORGOTTEN SPIRIT that was produced and had cinema and cable TV release.
A series of articles on design followed and more on travel, which I have done widely.
GOOSE HUNT is a revised edition of my first novel SECRETSINCITY by my pen name Deray Ogden published in 2013.
SAVING SPADE is my second novel released in 2017.
SERUM published in 2020 but covid halted a launch. Ironically as the book is about a disease-free world. Reprinting in 2026.
I have two more novels in the works.
I now live on the Australian Sunshine Coast were the weather is gentler on the creative mind.
