Michael James lives in Somers Point, NJ and Panama City Beach, FL with his wife of 49 years and two pugnacious black pugs. He has three wonderful kids that were and still are the inspiration for the storybooks he writes and publishes. Not having to shovel snow ever again in the winter is a small but welcome blessing.
Michael graduated from St. Joseph’s University in 1964 and has held various sales and management positions. He has always been an avid reader. As his three children grew, he decided to publish “Michael and the Sandman” and then, “Kelli and the Tooth Fairy.” Both storybooks are whimsical, tongue-in-cheek looks at the traditional versions.
His love of herb gardening, great food, and cooking led to the publication of “The Early American Cookbook,” which is a book of updated recipes that have their roots in Colonial America. The success of that publication yielded additional titles: “The Maine to Monterey Seafood Cookbook,” “The Holiday Entertaining Cookbook,” “The Herbs and Spices Cookbook,” “Six Herbs for Every Kitchen Cookbook,” “The Wine Lovers Cookbook,” and “The Ultimate Pesto Cookbook.”
Michael founded Medford House in 1985 as a vehicle for publishing fanciful children’s books and unique cookbooks distributed through specialty gift shops and gourmet stores. From the beginning of Medford House Michael published various authors, as well as created his own books as the Medford House library grew. With the advent of digital publishing, Medford House is repurposing those successful publications. Typically, children’s books are timeless. However, the cookbooks are now being updated and revised for today’s tastes. The digital revolution is providing a new source of distribution for these books, in addition to new titles now in the works. Watch for them. I am sure you will enjoy them.
