John Wright

John is a retired emergency physician from the North East of England. He attended Newcastle and Dundee Universities. He has worked as a medic in Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Honduras, but his 20-year consultant career was in the Royal Victoria Infirmary ED in his home city of Newcastle upon Tyne.

John's first book was his historical adventure novel, Jarrow Slake. He had idea for this while researching the effects of IV fluid therapy and discovered that the concept of fluid administration was introduced in Sunderland in the 19th-century during a cholera epidemic.

His second book was My Story in Black and White, his brother Derek's autobiography about his career as head physiotherapist at Newcastle United.
