I am passionate about improving the practice of management, and write extensively on the subject, mainly on social media and now eBooks.

There are a HUGE number of books written on the subject of management, so my aim is to write short, easy to understand books that a manager can refer back to and with tips a manager can use in their everyday management activities. In other words, the sort of books I'd like to read myself, not worthy tomes that I'll get around to reading someday.

Although I currently work as a Management Mentor, I have years of experience working in almost every management situation, and believe that sharing this experience will help up and coming managers avoid some of the mistakes I made!

I have been a Manager in a wide variety of organisations including IT, Pharmaceuticals, Engineering, Leisure, Insurance, Utilities, Olympic volunteers etc. I've spent 4 years managing outsourced teams, where I had to jump in at the deep end and manage someone else's team (the toughest management experience you'll ever have). I have an MBA and am a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, where I manage a team of volunteers.

I am fascinated by how much harder it is to effectively manage those strange beings called 'a team' than most people think and by how much of the theory just doesn't apply once you put real people into the equation!

I love management basically.
