Jan-Benedict E. M. Steenkamp

Jan-Benedict Steenkamp (“JB”) is the Massey Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he teaches the popular (E)MBA course "Leadership Lessons from History." His most recent book is "Warrior, Queen, Scientist, Activist: Gritty Women Who Bent the Arc of History" (Xlibris, 2024). His previous book, "Time to Lead: Lessons for Today’s Leaders from Bold Decisions that Changed History" (Fast Company Press, 2020) was a finalist for the INDIES Award in History.

Steenkamp has taught, consulted, and given executive seminars to many organizations including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Postgraduate School, and the US Air Force. His work has been featured in media around the world. He is ranked in the top 0.1% of scientists across all disciplines in the world, and his work has been cited nearly 70,000 times. He has received an honorary doctorate from Aarhus University (Denmark) and a lifetime achievement honor from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
