Lynn Tesser is a political scientist with expertise at the intersection of international relations, comparative politics, and modern history. Her early research analyzed the impact of International institutions' efforts to promote cosmopolitan liberal values in former socialist Central European and Western Balkan states as well as in the case of a divided Cyprus—land areas marked by extensive Cold War and/or post-Cold War ethnic cleansing. Her present work takes a fresh look at why the world order centers on nation-states rather than empires.
