Don Johnson

Rev. Dr. Don W. Johnson, a member of the Makah Indian Tribe, has been the Executive Director of Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. since 1994. Prior to leading this ministry, Don was pastor of Makah Lutheran Church in Neah Bay, Washington. During that time, he also served on the Makah Tribal Council, including five years as the Chairman.

Don received his Doctorate in Ministry in 2004 from Lutheran/Northwestern Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was one of the first ordained Native Americans actively serving in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Don spends much of his time encouraging Native Americans who feel called by God to further their leadership training to better serve the Church and world. He believes that Native American communities are best served through the raising up of Native leaders to minister to their own people.
