I'm a teacher and a learner- above all else. My writing comes mostly from my experiences, but I really enjoy writing fiction as well. I've also written lyrics and many of my poems have lyrical aspects to them. Most of my writing reflects on the human condition and the importance of relationships. I feel that we must assess where we've been. where we are, and where we are going in life. We are all connected, through our humanity, and we need to educate each-other. Every person is worth investigating, questioning, learning from.
My heroes in life have always been my family.
Jesse James Flaherty, though he rests in peace, has been a great inspiration for me. He became an amazing father to my niece, he taught me the importance of patience, and he demonstrated great leadership skills. He helped me to understand the importance of observing the world around me, as he was a quiet young man, always listening and offering a hand. These are some of the skills that I would need to begin to write and to begin being brave enough to share my writing with others.
My brother, Shane Barry has also had a great impact on my life. After our older brother passed away, he bonded to me, taught me, helped me to grow in my confidence, quizzed me, tested me, prepared me for anything that came my way. Shane Barry showed me my own strength, he raised the bar for me, told me that I could accomplish anything and this far in life, he has been correct. He is an amazingly talented, and beautiful person who helped me to aspire, to reach for my dreams.
My mother has also been an inspiration to me, bonding with people from all walks of life, demonstrating bravery in the face of adversity, having hope for the hopeless, and giving love to all kind souls. She is a visionary, finding new ways to improve other people's lives, and the world is a better place for that.
My father has taught me a great deal in life. He's never accepted the status quo and I love him for that. He has taught me never to be content with what's barely on the surface, to dig deep, to find the meaning of life, of love, of what it means to be human. My father is a philosopher and in turn, so am I.
My husband has taught me too many things to name, but most of all, he reminded me of the importance of self-love, the importance of forgiveness, gave me the promise of true love, the one thing I had been seeking and continue to seek in all of my relationships (as I try to unselfishly and truly love my friends as well). My husband rescued me and made me realize the importance of getting my words to others.
