Something interesting about the front cover of Bled My Blood? The man you see on the front cover is my husband. I mean, he was posing as my main character, but in real life- he’s married to me. I know. He’s hot, right?

Something people are surprised to find out about me? I interned at the Public Defenders' office while obtaining my bachelor's degree. So, basically all I did was go to the jail and interview inmates. I don’t know, I guess something about my sweet smile and short stature throws people for a loop when I say I’ve worked with inmates. It really wasn’t a big deal. All I had to do was hit the red button if one of them attacked me.

Things I like: Well, writing, obviously. I also like to work with the youth. I like the summer a whole lot better than the winter. I like walks in the spring and fall with my husband and child. I really like chlorine a whole lot. I think I would love any type of resort (I’m not sure though because I’ve never been to one). I like singing, music (ranging from bands like Need to breathe to The Piano Guys to Lecrae to Lady Antebellum), and attempting to play the piano. I like watching my son giggle and conquer new things. I like learning new things about myself and growing. I like lifting weights. Oh, yeah, and I like olive garden and dairy queen. I like people who smile a lot- real smiles though, not the fake ones. And I like when people laugh at my jokes.

Things I don’t like: Winter; it makes me feel like crap. Dark water; it’s creepy. Seeing my son bleed; it kind of makes me dizzy. I don’t like running. Please don’t make me do it. I hate the flu and puking. I don’t like hospitals. I hate Taco bell and I roll my eyes when I hear their commercials on the radio. Mean people who don’t smile back at you.

People I like: I really like my siblings. All of us have red hair. I like my Grandpa and Grandma Petry a whole lot. I like my mom (needless to say). Well, there are a lot of people I like. But I only feel close to a few. I like my nephews and nieces. I like all the kids at my youth group. They rock. I’m not sure I ever grew up all the way.

Things I will never do: I will never jump out of an airplane (UNLESS the only other choice is to crash into the ground at a million miles an hour and die in a fiery explosion). I will never swim with sharks, but thanks anyways. Bungee jumping… No. Wash windows from the outside of a building, 20+ stories up.

Things I’d really like to do someday: I want to work with the Rock House Kids in Rockford, IL. I would like to help get kids ready for jobs, kids who have troubled pasts or bad, home life situations. I definitely want to be a foster parent someday. I’m not sure if I have to wait until I’m older for that though. I’m only 24. I definitely want to do counseling, but that probably means I have to go back to school (yet again). I’d like my book to turn into a movie. I think it’d translate into film really well. Someday, I’d love to design and build my own house.

What did I want to be when I grew up? I wanted to be a writer. Then a missionary to gangbangers. Then a cop. Then a probation officer. And now a writer and hopefully a counselor someday.
