Cindy Lou Moldovan was born and raised in the tropical paradise of Belize, Central America, until the age of seventeen, when she moved to Houston, Texas. In her memoir, 'Growing Up Third World,' Cindy wrote about her experience of moving from Belize to the United States of America and often shares funny and real stories of what it was like growing up in a large family with ten siblings.
Cindy attended Lee College of nursing in Baytown, Texas. She worked in Houston Texas for twenty-five years until she retired from the medical field of nursing. She followed her passion for writing and is now a published author.
Cindy continues to write short stories, romance novels, and poetry. Her children’s book of a Belize Wise tale of Tata Duende will be published in the summer of 2021.
To add to her title as Triathlete, Cindy became the first Belizean female PADI certified Scuba Divemaster. She has guided numerous dives to the world-famous Belize Blue Hole and Belize's barrier reef.
Cindy is on the board of directors of TRRW (Three Rivers Romance Writers) A member of the professional writing group, Penn Writers and Mindful Writers.
With an emphasis on community involvement, Cindy is always willing to help others. She was the Chair of the new member committee 2019 and 2020 with The Junior League of Pittsburgh, and now serves on the Collective Impact Cohort team.
Cindy also volunteers at the Veterans Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Some of her hobbies and interests include downhill skiing, golf, tennis, long walks, hiking trails and state parks, kayak on lakes and rivers, theatre, and the arts, listening to many different genres of music, and never gets tired of gazing at mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, and stream. She has a passion for travel and learning the culture and the history of places she visits around the globe.
A budding wine connoisseur, Cindy enjoys haute cuisine and entertaining family and friends. When cooking, she always starts by procuring one of her prohibition cocktails. A true Belizean at heart, Cindy retains a love for good coffee, strong brewed sweetened black tea, and home cooked Belizean food.
The proud mother of three adult daughters and grandmother of four, she is passionate about her family, often visiting them in Texas and South Carolina, for long conversations, priceless hugs and kisses, and sweet stories from any of her four grandchildren.
