Patrick Ramsey

My name is Patrick Ramsey. I am a retired paramedic. I started out as a volunteer fire fighter way back in 1975 but worked as a professional paramedic from 1980 until 2000. In addition to being an aspiring author I now work in the IT field. I have a grown son, who is married and has given me two wonderful grandchildren. I have been married to my wife Tracey for over 30 years. We have lived in the Houston, Texas area for more than 30 years.

I have always been an avid reader and have wanted to write books since I was a kid. Growing up, going to school, working, getting married, and having family always seemed to get in the way of starting a book. During my tenure as a paramedic I was involved in many calls. While a lot of them were routine a lot of them were not. As time went on people would ask me questions about my experiences. I would pick some call that stood out for some reason or another to fit the situation and tell what is called a war story.

After telling a war story people would often tell me, "You should write a book about this stuff."

Remembering my childhood dream of being a writer I started keeping notes about my experiences. By the time I retired from Emergency Medical Services I had compiled a lot of notes but never actually started my book.

Several years ago I finally sat down at the computer started writing. I found out writing an interesting story is a lot harder than telling one. I finally hit upon a style and was off and running. It is a series of short stories about some my more interesting calls. Some are sad, some are tragic, and some are even funny. I wrote the stories in first person in the hopes of putting the reader into the action.
