I have lived for several years each in Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and now Cape Breton. My "Things I've Done" listing includes farm hand, salesman, library technician, professional musician, sound equipment rental business and long-haul trucking. My short stories have appeared in several Canadian periodicals. My first book, "The Rock in the Water" (Hidden Brook Press, 2009) was shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour. My latest book, "The Promised Land - a novel of Cape Breton" (Boularderie Island Press, 2013) has been nominated for several awards. I have been a contributor to three anthologies: "Shorelines" (Kingfisher Publishing); "The Men's Breakfast" (Breton Books); and most recently, "Thirteen Ways from Sunday" (Boularderie Island Press).
I live on the back side of Murray Mountain, pecking away at the keyboard, assisting in the garden, picking blueberries, collecting wonderful Chanterelle mushrooms and cutting firewood. I am also a mediocre dart player.
