Barbara Cavaness (now Parks) grew up in the Midwest, the daughter of a pastor. She began to travel and teach overseas the day after she graduated from college--mainly in Southeast Asia. Twenty years of ministry as a single woman led to her dissertation (unpublished)on the decline in the number of women in her vocation. Teaching the biblical support for women leaders eventuated in her collaboration with Deborah Gill on "God's Women--Then and Now." The book has been translated into Tamil and Spanish, and has sold over 12,000 copies. Her book with Theresa D'Souza in 2011--"Unbelievable Yet True"--relates the life story of very unusual present-day woman leader.
