I have been writing all of my life, in fact telling stories since elementary school. I remember reading in a Paris Review interview with John Cheever that he did the same thing when he was young. What both of us did at very young ages was tell stories whenever the class had a few moments to spare. So . . . many, many stories later, I am finally publishing. My novella, Perdita, the Lost One, is currently available as an ebook, on Kindle or downloaded to your computer. Once I have this squared away, I will publish a full length novel called Rock Bottom. Currently, I’m working on another novel I call The Interview, about an interracial love affair in the 1960’s. I hope you enjoy my work, but you will never love it as much as I love doing it. So as long as I am able, I shall be telling stories for you.

. . . was born and raised in Michigan.

Lesson: Fresh water lakes are God’s gift to those not lucky enough to live near the ocean.

. . . graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in English Literature.

Lesson: College is the last bastion of immaturity, the last chance to hone your idealism.

. . . worked in Europe—Paris & London.

Lesson: Never take your U.S. creature comforts for granted.

. . . got married and taught school in Key West ’72-’75.

Lesson: Get out alive while you can (marriage and Key West).

. . . graduated from San Francisco State with an MA in Special Ed.

Lesson: You’re never too old to bullshit the bullshitters.

. . . got married a 2nd time and raised a son.

Lesson: Just because you fell into the same trap twice (marriage) doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get out as soon as you can.

As for parenting, try to enjoy the responsibility—it’s lifelong.

. . . taught in the English/Reading Departments at a community college in Ann Arbor for the rest of my teaching career.

Lesson: Don’t believe the BS—teaching college is the consummate teaching job.

. . . am writing to live, living to write in Key West.

The Real Lesson: Faith, persistence, and tapping into the “now” of creativity/the Creator—sheer bliss.
