Writer, poet, painter and lover of nature, Mary O'Connor often complements her writings with visual images of photography as well as paintings in watercolors and acrylics. Her watercolor paintings have been exhibited by area art associations, and her animal portraits are treasured by numerous individual pet owners.
Author of three books centered on finding joy in life, Mary has a way of seeing sunlight in the ordinary and drawing it out in surprising thought-provoking observations. It is this focus on finding the charm and magic of the commonplace and expressing it in words and images that deliver memories, peace and calm that defines her work.
A popular public speaker and workshop facilitator, Mary has taught poetry writing to inmates at the Connecticut state prison for women, has served as a docent at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, and as a volunteer in the community arena. She lives along the Connecticut shoreline where she conceives much of her work.
