John Risvold

From a young age, John Risvold was consumed by words. “No more words, John,” his mother would tell him. Good thing he didn’t listen. As a trial lawyer and writer, he had a need for words. John has always loved crafting stories, finding ways to captivate an audience with words.

John is the author of several short stories, as well a the spy novella The Proposition. He is the author of two forthcoming novels Dark Money and Ex Parte. John is a trial lawyer by trade. He has worked as a lobbyist and lawyer on both the defense and plaintiff’s side, learning the ins and outs of government, politics and the courtroom. John weaves these experiences into his stories, creating real life characters with larger than life problems.

John graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law, with honors, Order of Barristers. Prior to law school, he graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's degree in English Creative Writing and Political Science. He lives in Chicago with his wife and kids. In his free time he enjoys traveling, reading, writing and running. He is happy to have lived long enough to see the Cubs win a World Series.
