Helen Evans

Helen Evans has many years of experience as a pre-school Director and also teaching Children's Services at the New England College of Tafe in Armidale, NSW Australia. Her special interest was in teaching Creative and Expressive studies and using that experience has written a series of books to help parents. The Busy Mothers' Guide to Happy Babies, The Busy Mothers' Guide to Happy Toddlers, and The Busy Mothers' Guide to Happy Preschoolers

These books are helpful to all people involved in caring for children.

After retiring from teaching Helen followed her passion for interactive storytelling at local Early Childhood Centres where her stories were very popular with the children and staff.

Her books Tales for Toddlers, and Tales to Tell to Preschoolers will delight children from 18 months to 5 years. The books will assist students, educators, parents and carers develop storytelling skills.

Helen's textbook, Simply Storytelling, is now republished as an e-book. It outlines many different ways to tell stories to young children without actually reading from a book.

Reluctant Heroes, fuses history and fiction. It is an account of her father Bill's life as an Australian POW who was captured by the Japanese during WW11 and sent to Borneo. It tells a parallel story of life in a rural town as Bill's son grows up. The book is available as a Kindle book from Amazon.

She is also a textile artist. In 2016 she illustrated a story she had written called Five Friendly Dinosaurs, using her textile skills. It is available through Amazon. She sews pictures that can be viewed on the family website, www.evansgalleryuralla.com and she makes tactile books for babies and children.

She has a B.A. Dip.Ed. (English, History), and a Diploma in Early Childhood.
