Ross Harrison is a Senior Fellow at the Middle East Institute in Washington DC. He is also on the Political Science faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. For over fifteen years, Harrison was Professor in the Practice of International Affairs in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He has also lectured on matters related to strategy and Middle East politics at the U.S. Department of State, the National War College, National Defense University, The Naval War College, and the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute.
Harrison has been published in policy related journals such as The National Interest, Al Monitor, Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs and Parameters (The U.S. Army War College Journal). He is often interviewed by the media and quoted in national papers, including the New York Times on issues related to the Middle East. He co-edited a book with Paul Salem "From Chaos to Cooperation: Toward Regional Order in the Middle East" (2017) "Escaping the Conflict Trap: Toward Ending Wars in the Middle East (2023). He is also the author of "Decoding Iran's Foreign Policy: Strategic Interests, Power and Influence" (2025)
