Sharon Verner Chappell

Sharon Chappell is Associate Professor in the elementary and bilingual education department at California State University Fullerton. She specializes in safe, welcoming, inclusive schools for diverse youth, and in particular gender diverse and LGBTQ youth.

She is a poet and children's book writer, inspired by her current experiences surviving breast cancer. See her work at www.littlegreenmonster.org

Sharon holds an MA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a PhD from Arizona State University. Sharon taught K-8 multilingual, multicultural young people in Texas and California for six years before becoming a teacher educator.
