Patrick Green

My name is Patrick Green and I'm an Executive Director of Heart and Vascular Services at an urban community hospital in Atlanta. I like my job. It is worthwhile job where an MBA like me can actually make decisions that save lives.

My job, and jobs of many more middle managers in hospitals like mine, are getting more and more difficult. Many of my friends and co-workers are choosing to exit the field altogether. I admit, I have been tempted to do so as well. The reason I have not is that I believe I am a good leader and at this point of upheaval in the US healthcare system we need good leaders.

So I am writing to encourage my peers to stay the course and keep fighting the good fight. Patients need those of us who care, and can teach others to care well, to continue to offer our leadership in service to them, and to the rest of our fellow man.

I will write about simple strategies to be successful as a healthcare leader, but I believe a leader can only lead well when life is in balance. To that end, I will also write about strategies that have helped me succeed in other areas of life such as personal finance, marriage, parenting, community or church service, etc. I have been blessed and desire to be a blessing through my writings.
