People always say. When did you start writing. Have you ever seen that long stare someone gives when thinking. Mine is even longer when someone asks that question.

My story is a story in itself. I never really intended to be an author, I just sat down over three years and wrote a story. Not just any story, but a story that would take me out of my darkest hours. It started while serving in the Persian Gulf War. I received a letter from my wife, stating - the marriage was over. I had an inkling to why - she had an affair; which on my return, ended my navy career.

I won't get into the heartache of it all, but I left the navy, I moved to Australia. It was there, while watching a talk show. The host was interviewing a famous author from the US. He asked the author, what got you into writing. He gave no long stare and said.... I had a lot of people take advantage of me and if I had sought revenge I probably wouldn't be sitting here, I'd be in prison. Then it occurred to me that one could write a story and do anything you wanted to characters and nothing would happen. You know, just simply change the person's name in a manner of speaking.

Three weeks later, a story unfolded before me. A ghost story. I placed myself in the story as Sheriff Jeff Warren, whose great grandfather helped Stanton Grey build the Ashley Ranch in Kentucky. Stanton had a daughter, Sage. She was a fiery beauty, who could ride and shoot.

Present day... The town of Cedar Valley wants to tear down the old mansion - Jeff wants to keep it and turn it into a five star hotel. He is conned to going out there and living in the run-down place for a week. If he came back alive, the town would listen to him. Low and behold, Jeff meets Sage. It is not pretty at first, but as she finds out that this is Earl Warren's great grandson, she takes a liking to him. Now toss in old money, gold and bad men - with enough twist and turns to set your hair on fire - you have a book.

When I returned to the US my mother read the story and then my sister read the story. They both loved it. It was my sister, Barb - who pushed me into publishing it, and - the rest is history. I now have nine novels out and working on my tenth...
