William McCauley

William (Bill) McCauley is a native of the DC area. After teaching English for 24 years at a German school, where everything except English and American History is taught in German, he has a deep fascination for German culture and history and a pretty fluent command of the language. He recently retired from his job as a Gifted and Talented Education specialist in a middle-school (grades 6-8) near Baltimore. He credits his students with forcing him to examine more closely the realities of life, and he bases his writing on his students' struggles to make that leap from childhood to young adulthood. His first middle-grade novel, "Guardian Angel," follows the journey of thirteen-year-old Markus Simmons, whose grandmother was in Auschwitz in War World II. As strange secrets and mysteries about her past start to surface, Markus begins to realize that the truth is not always what it seems.
