Michael Lukas

Michael Lukas has lived with bipolar disorder for 20 years and has worked tirelessly to get it under control. In that time, he has been homeless, jailed and committed. He now holds a Stanford degree, enjoys a successful technology career and lives with his wife and 2 children in San Francisco. Michael Lukas continues to seek balance with the support of a group of close friends, family, therapist and doctor.

He is the author of The Veil, a first-person account of bipolar disorder, starting with the discovery of his illness as he finds himself transformed from high school valedictorian to correctional facility inmate over the course of a summer. His story continues with a visceral description of his first manic episode leading to his eventual removal from Stanford. The Veil concludes with the story of his success and guidance to his readers to achieve the same.
