Tim Baines

Professor Tim Baines is a leading international authority on Servitization and advanced services and is the co-founder of the Advanced Services Group (ASG). ASG is an international leader in research underpinning the adoption of Servitization within the manufacturing industry. Professor Baines has been at the forefront of the development of new thinking in manufacturing operations strategy and Servitization for over twenty-five years. He has published in a range of world leading and internationally excellent journals and is widely cited for his research. His impact and contribution to practice is reflected in the extensive global collaborations he has established with companies such as Airbus, Boeing, Caterpillar, Ford, Goodyear, Rolls-Royce and Thales.

His career started with a technician apprenticeship, and has progressed through a variety of industrial and academic positions, including that of Visiting Scholar within the Centre for Technology, Policy and Industrial Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineers and Technologists.
