Nathaniel Hoffman

Nathaniel Hoffman has written about immigration and politics for more than a decade as a reporter and editor at newspapers in Idaho and California. Hoffman has filed stories for the Christian Science Monitor, High Country News, The Miami Herald, AlterNet and NewWest.net and produced audio reports for KQED public radio in San Francisco and KBSU in Boise. His journalism has taken him to Cuba twice, to Mexico, Israel and Lebanon and deep into Oregon's Hell's Canyon. Hoffman is currently the founding editor of The Blue Review, a journal of politics, cities and the environment published by Boise State University.

Hoffman holds a degree in Africana Studies from Cornell University. He first wrote about the epidemic of broken marriages caused by harsh immigration laws while on the immigration beat at the Contra Costa Times, writing about a Mexican man who went home to visit his sick mother and was not allowed to return to his American wife and sons in the Bay Area.

Hoffman is the editor of The Blue Review, a graduate student in data journalism at Boise State University and serves on the Board of Directors of Radio Boise. He lives in Boise, Idaho with his wife and two young daughters.
