Alice Breon was born in 1925 in a suburb of Chicago and grew up during the Great Depression. In her book, "Green Gravy, Monster Bread and Other Adventures", Alice writes true stories of hilarious situations and extraordinary people she has encountered. Beginning with the start of World War II, she describes what it was like coming of age during the war years. The stories span twenty-five years and include the romance and marriage to Byron, a career air force officer. The many places they and their four children lived provided material for anecdotes about people who touched their lives, including a close friendship with a Japanese dance teacher.
In 1994, Alice, who was then a widow in her seventies, met Woody and a friendship blossomed into romance. Alice and Woody live in State College, Pennsylvania. They recently celebrated their seventeenth wedding anniversary. They enjoy fly fishing in the many streams in their area and ballroom dancing and square dancing.
