Lisa Brandom

Lisa Sims Brandom was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on November 5, 1944. She moved to Arkansas in 1972, taught English in public and private secondary schools for eleven years before receiving her doctorate from the University of Arkansas in 1984. She then spent the majority of her work career as a Professor of English at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas; she was chair of the department from 1996-2006 when she retired. She and her husband of forty-eight years now live in central Arkansas.

Lisa is the author of two previous books, "Four Women,One Century" and "The Skagway Connection." She has edited a book based upon a colleague's journals from 1942-1955, entitled "The Panage Papers." Her work has appeared in literary journals in the form of fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. In addition, she has published a number of academic articles in education and English.

One of the speaking venues Lisa has enjoyed in recent years is telling her stories on NPR's "Tales From The South."
