John Britt was born in the South, but grew up an Air Force brat, living all over the United States and in England. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in Political Science in the 1970s, and then he earned law degrees from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and Georgetown Law School. From 1984 to 2015, he served as an attorney with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
John's family has been playing baseball for over a century. On June 4, 2013, John’s book, "Baseball - A Casual Fan's Guide," was accepted into the Baseball Hall of Fame's Research Library in Cooperstown, New York.
