Denise M. Brown

Denise M. Brown, Professional Caregiving Coach and Speaker, began working with family caregivers in 1990. She was an early developer of online support groups for family caregivers and former family caregivers, launching her first in 1996. She began helping her parents in 2004 after her father’s bladder cancer diagnosis.

Next Avenue named Denise a 2017 Influencer in Aging, one of “50 advocates, researchers, thought leaders, innovators, writers and experts who continue to push beyond traditional boundaries and change our understanding of what it means to grow older.” Denise hosts regular events to support family caregivers and former family caregivers.

Denise developed and leads the Certified Caregiving Advocate, Consultant, Educator, Facilitator and Specialist programs to empower and train family caregivers and former family caregivers. She also created the Certified Family Care Manager program to arm family caregivers with the skills and techniques they need to care for their family members.

Her insights have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, US News & World Report, USA Today, SmartMoney.com, Time magazine and Chicago Tribune.  She is the author of several books including The Caregiving Years, Six Stages to a Meaningful Journey, Take Comfort, Reflections of Hope for Caregivers and After Caregiving Ends, A Guide to Beginning Again.
