Jason is the Owner and Creative Director of Jason Mitchell Kahn and Co. He launched this business to marry all of his work as a writer and event planner.
Jason is currently the Director of Weddings and Editorial for Men’s Vows Magazine and is regularly asked to contribute ideas and opinions to various wedding websites and media outlets. Before launching Jason Mitchell Kahn & Co., he served as the resident Wedding Planner for Shiraz Events overseeing the company’s market in New York, Los Angeles and London.
Prior to Shiraz Events, Jason worked for several years at Soho House New York as the Event and Banquet Manager and quickly became known as the in-house wedding expert. There he worked with couples on planning their special day in addition to doing freelance wedding planning. While weddings are his favorite type of event, at Soho House Jason also designed, planned, and ran fashion shows, book launches, art festivals, movie premieres, opening nights, gala dinners, and awards shows post parties. The job took him around the world from Oscar parties in L.A. to events held in chateaus in Cannes and even an underground subway station in Toronto.
Jason is also an accomplished playwright. His show THE BOYS UPSTAIRS, a comedy about sex, dating, relationships and all the blurry lines in between, premiered in the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival where it played an entirely sold-out run and received critical praise. In 2011 the Fringe Festival, which produces 200 plays annually, invited THE BOYS UPSTAIRS to be part of its 15th Anniversary Series honoring the top 15 shows of 15 years.
Jason's first play THE RED BOX, a historical gay love story, premiered in 2006 in Tribeca. Jason has lectured on this play in New York, Connecticut, Montreal, Poland, Prague and Israel. It continues to be presented in multiple academic settings.
Jason splits his time between New York and Los Angeles. He is the proud father of Barnaby the rescue terrier.
