Eugene H. Ware

Eugene Ware is a local Erie, Pennsylvania author who retired from a 45-year career as a financial advisor. Over the years, Gene let his attention and mind wander into the areas of writing, photography, and Presque Isle State Park. He was born, raised and a life-long resident of Erie. He is married with three daughters and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Gene has has served his community by serving on twelve non-profit boards and become President of six of these. Since his retirement he has taught an over 50 Senior writing group at two local library branches.

Over the years, he has written nine books all in someway related to Presque Isle and Erie, Pennsylvania. His photography is featured in four of his books including two poetry books about the beauty of Presque Isle. Two of his books, published by Arcadia Publishing, are old pictures and short write-ups about the park covering the period of the late 1800s to the early 1990s

History Press published his historical book on The Three Pennsylvania Lighthouses on Lake Erie. In addition The History Of Presque Isle since the early 1700s. His latest book is his first Children's picture book and is the first of a series about Tucker, a Painted Turtle and Ripley, a Cotton-Tail Rabbit and their adventures.

A second children's book about Tucker and Ripley is due out the second week of June 2021. It takes our here's to Asbury Woods to tour this nature's wonderland. The illustrations are fantastic and the education of the book will help grandpa, grandma, and parents teach their children about the environment of the local northwestern Pennsylvania area.
