Bobbie Mayer was born in Washington State. She received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Puget Sound and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College, and has taught at California State University, Fresno, since 1983. Bobbie grew up with dogs- first beagles, then English Setters, and then Labrador Retrievers. She raised her first corgi, Ronny, for Canine Companions for Independence, and then began collecting corgis of her own. She has shown in obedience and conformation with her Labradors and rally and agility with her corgis.
Bobbie has been involved with wheeled corgis since 2002, when she adopted Wesley. She runs the CorgiAid Cart loan program, providing loaner carts to corgis all over the United States and Canada. She has had corgis with both IVDD and DM, and currently has Oliver, a Cardigan Welsh corgi with IVDD, Jack, a Pembroke Welsh corgi, and Maddie, a foster Pembroke corgi with IVDD. She spends most of her time (when she is not writing or teaching chemistry) untangling carts and telling corgis to "Be Quiet!!"
Bobbie is a grandmother many times over, most recently to twin boys. She plays the cello and enjoys camping, boating, and hiking, and has recently started quilting.
