Jeffrey A Brune

Jeff Brune is an associate professor of history at Gallaudet University. His next book project is a monograph about the fear of disability fakery from the nineteenth century to the present. The working title is "Disability Stigma and American Political Culture."

For more information about Dr. Brune's biography, research, and teaching, see his university home page: http://www.gallaudet.edu/Faculty-Staff/History_Philosophy_Religion_and_Sociology/History/Brune_Jeff.html.

I have also written a blog for my publisher in which I talk about my experience with disability and passing. It wasn't my goal to learn about myself when I worked on the book but I now use the framework of disability and passing to understand my own liminal disability identity. Throughout my life I have moved between (and defied) the rigid disabled and nondisabled categories that many parts of the anthology call into question. http://templepress.wordpress.com/2013/07/31/passing-and-the-liminal-disability-identity/"

Mike Northern has written a thorough and thoughtful review of Disability and Passing, available at: http://www.wordgathering.com/issue27/reviews/brune.html
