Jeffrey A Mackey

A native of the Catskill Mountains as they slope into the Hudson Valley, Mackey was raised among the hills and valleys of what is Ulster County. He was, at an early age, given books to read and soon he was scribbling his own one page prize winners. He continues to scribble books out today. A graduate if Kingston High School, and Nyack College both in New York, he has gone on to earn four doctorates and has been awarded four honorary degrees. From 1971-2011 he has been either a full-time parish pastor (priest) or a part time overseer while he worked as an Assistant Vice-President and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Nyack College, both in Nyack and in lower Manhattan. Mackey has written over twenty books and contributed to many more. His first book, a treatise on ethics is rare. He is in the process of discarding ethics as a secular philosophical category and replacing it with integrity, which is a much more stable concept and a much more graspable reality for people. He is seeking to remove "Christian ethics" from the debate and to replace the concept with "the integrity of Christ." A translation of the New Testament; commentaries on Romans, James, Revelation, Mark, and I Peter are all at various stages of completion. Mackey has published three books of poetry and contributed to eight others, and there is a poetry work with over 200 unpublished poems expected this year. Check out the three editions of Eastern Orthodoxy collections just made available. An off-the-wall Episcopalian, individuals flock to him for his age-improving wisdom and insight. He lives in north central Florida, with his wife, LaVonne, Timmy the wonder dog, as they ply their time with their 35,000 volume library. At every opportunity they are in Woodstock, the place the writer calls, "home." Beginning January 2015 he will become the Dean of Academic Affairs of The College of Missionary Aviation in Keystone Heights, FL.
