Pur essendo un romanzo, "Il nipote di Rameau" è l'opera di Diderot che più ha dato da pensare ai filosofi, da Hegel a Foucault. L'interpretazione hegeliana, che vede in Rameau una figura della coscienza, se da un lato fece scuola individuando la struttura dialettica del romanzo, dall'altro lato mise in secondo piano la dimensione corporea del protagonista. Per dare il giusto valore alla pantomima recitata da Rameau, e alle posture corporee che egli assume dialogando col filosofo-moi, occorre indagare la dimensione transartistica del concetto di "position" (al centro del romanzo) tra teatro, pittura e danza; indagine che può mettere in evidenza il rapporto tra rappresentazione artistica e concezione antropologica del tempo, fortemente caratterizzata da un modello corporeo bio-energetico, introdotto dai medici-filosofi vitalisti della scuola di Montpellier.
