Annie Tsai

Annie Tsai has been soaking in the world’s curiosities her entire life, and writing has always been an important outlet for both making sense of the world and sharing her learnings with others. At the age of 9, she first published poetry as a part of a hardcover youth collection. It was about 25 years ago after graduating from UC Berkeley in 2001 where she started working on her first manuscript, which got shelved in favor of an extraordinary job opportunity that led her around the world working with all sorts of clients and after six years, at the time, left as the youngest Director of Marketing for the publicly traded company.

Why not go to the other end of the spectrum and join an early stage startup leading Customer Experience? Four years of hyper growth, a book deal, and an acquisition to Intuit later, she went back to working with large global enterprises and building partnerships but again, in a completely different context. All the while, Annie continued writing at annietsai dot co exploring a variety of topics from company culture, to management strategy, to new technologies, and of course customer experience.

Her debut book, The Small Business Online Marketing Handbook: Converting Online Conversations to Offline Sales (Wiley, 2014), was ranked among the top 10 business books at launch and remains a valuable resource for entrepreneurs. She also contributed to How Companies Succeed in Social Business (2015), further cementing her reputation as an insightful voice in the business world.

And the story goes on. She has founded two companies, built novel technologies, grown and scaled companies in nearly every function, invested in companies across healthcare, financial services, ecommerce, artificial intelligence, and alternative foods, coached new founders and leaders, and more. Today, Annie is chief operating and finance officer at marketing technology company Interact, part-time partner at early stage venture firm The House Fund, and weekly columnist at one of the last standing print newspapers in Silicon Valley, the San Mateo Daily Journal where she writes about the intersection of technology, culture, and our everyday lives. As well, Annie sits on the board of Techtonica, a non-profit focused on increasing gender diversity in technical roles, and holds multiple volunteer commission and board roles supporting affordable housing, literacy, and our libraries.

A lifetime of willingness to try and then master something completely new and different has given Annie a deep appreciation for life’s windy roads as well as a keen ability to connect the dots across seemingly unrelated or contradictory contexts and blend complex ideas with approachable, real-world applications. It’s in this where she began jotting down notes for the “Teach Your Kids” series of books, where Teach Your Kids Investing in 10 Easy Lessons is its inaugural title.

Teach Your Kid How to Invest in 10 Easy Lessons (2025) reflects her belief in the transformative power of applied knowledge. Through engaging stories and actionable advice, Annie empowers parents to teach their children foundational financial skills, fostering resilience, curiosity, and confidence.

Annie lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two children, and their dog Ollie.
