Cheryl Trzasko

As a child, Cheryl Trzasko sailed from Australia, with her family--including a newborn sister--on a 39-ft. ferro-cement ketch built by her dad, on the voyage of a lifetime.

As an adult, Cheryl earned a degree in math from the University of Chicago and pursued graduate studies at Florida Atlantic University. Cheryl taught for nine years in secondary schools in Chicago, Florida and Korea, before becoming a fulltime mom. She is a homeschool mom who runs a local inclusive homeschool support group and evaluates homeschoolers, and incorporates many of the lessons learned on her youthful voyage in homeschooling her own children.

Cheryl and her husband have been foster parents for several years and won the 2012 "Foster Parents of the Year" award from Kids in Distress.

She has published articles in "Fostering Families Today" and "Home Education Magazine." "Around the World in a Cement Boat" is her first book.

"Florida Homeschool Evaluations 101" is her second book.
