Jackie Garner

I am a professional wildlife artist, illustrator, former education officer at the Nature in Art Museum, art teacher, wildlife fanatic and ex-bird ringer, all of which came in useful when writing The Wildlife Artist's Handbook.

I originate from - and now have a studio in - Gloucestershire (UK), but briefly left the county to train at Medway College of Design in the 1980s. Since then I've added two City & Guilds courses to my training: Further and Adult Education Teachers Certificate Level 1 & 2 and Business for the Creative Industries, Level 3.

My first love is drawing, with painting in acrylics or watercolours a close second. I particularly like seeing how wildlife fits into it's environment through repeating shapes and colours.

Wildlife Art has taken me to wonderful far-flung destinations, such as Egypt and the Falkland Islands. Both venues inspired a series of paintings, leading to solo exhibitions in London. I've also exhibited with the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA), the National Exhibition Wildlife Art (NEWA) and at the Cheng-Kim Loke gallery at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust headquarters at Slimbridge.
