Odette Lienau is a Professor of Law and member of the Graduate Field of Government at Cornell University. Her research seeks to understand the broader political norms and market principles that impact expectations about appropriate behavior for businesses, governments, and other actors. She worked in insolvency and financial restructuring at a major law firm in New York City prior to entering academia and has presented on sovereign debt issues at the IMF and UNCTAD, among other international organizations and NGOs. She received her B.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University and her J.D. from NYU School of Law. She grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia.
