Yon Visell

Dr. Visell is a scientist and engineer working at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is an expert in haptics - science and technologies related to the sense of touch and movement. He also pursues research in robotics and stretchable electronics. Dr. Visell is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the Media Arts and Technology Graduate Program, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Department of Mechanical Engineering (by courtesy). He previously served as a faculty member at Drexel University, and as a postdoctoral research in the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics at Sorbonne University. PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University (2011). Visell also spent more than 5 years in the tech industry. He has authored more than 75 peer reviewed articles. His work has received numerous awards and nominations at prominent academic conferences. Dr. Visell is also a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2018), of a Hellman Family Foundation Faculty Fellowship (2017), and a Google Faculty Research Award (2016).
