Steve Walton

Steve Walton is widely known for his artistic wedding and landscape photography. Drawing from his extensive experience in fine art reprographics and over three decades as a professional photographer since he photographed his first wedding in 1981 for a friend of the family, Steve was commissioned by David & Charles in October 2005 as the principal author with co-author Angela Patchell who created the design and layout of Contemporary Wedding Photography and proof reading by Cathy Joseph.

Steve began writing the text and preparing images for the book in October 2005, writing from his own personal experience as an established wedding photographer. The first edition of Contemporary Wedding Photography was published in February 2006 in both hard and soft covers. Translated into several languages, his book is now in it's second edition and available for Kindle. Contemporary Wedding Photography enjoys continued strong sales and has received global critical acclaim.

Professional Achievements:

Steve Walton is a Fellow of the Master Photographers Association, Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photography and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. He is a major contributor to the digital imaging reference work 'Digital Imaging Best Practice Guidelines' (available as a free pdf download from the Chartered Quality Institute).

In 2013, he was invited to Chair the Visual Arts Judging Panel for BIPP International Awards.

In 2015, Steve was invited to join a team of 6 elite wedding photographers to represent the UK in the World Photographic Cup.

In 2015-16 Steve was made President of the Master Photographers Association and he sits on the MPA Board of Directors as Director of Accreditation. He is an internationally ranked judge for professional photographic awards and qualifications for MPA and BIPP

Steve operates a successful wedding photography business in Leicestershire. He is also the owner of Wild Light Photography Tours and Workshops, leading, teaching and mentoring groups on inspiring photography workshops and tours in the UK and overseas.
