My name is Garry, and I have been in the jewelry business since the age of 13. Why so young you may ask? Because my Mom and Dad owned a jewelry store and felt that I should learn the jewelry business just in case I ever needed to fall back on it to earn a living. Well, I graduated from college with a marketing degree and after my first three years of employment outside of the jewelry business, I found myself married and needing more income. Inevitably, I found myself back working in the jewelry business after all. Of course, I had learned how to show and sell diamonds at my parent’s jewelry store at a very young age. In my own business career, I went on to represent several prestigious fine jewelry companies selling loose diamonds to the retail jewelry trade.

For many years now, I’ve been helping friends, family and their extended family members when they were ready to buy a diamond. Informally, I’ve been educating them on “Diamond buying 101”. It occurred to me that I should put this information into a simple-to-read book for others to use as well.
